Macbook Pro worth it?

I've been doing research on laptops for college and I have been asking friends who own and don't own Macbooks. Should I try to find a midpriced laptop that isnt apple or should a save for a Macbook? Either way I will have it by graduation, its just Macbooks are expensive, but from what I hear there aren't many viruses for them. I do want a Macbook just dont kow if i should spend the money.
