look at the circle with bunch of cos and sin values. since π/2 is y-axis, and θ is in 1st quad, if you double it, it means you add 90 degree angle because the circle goes counter-clock wise. If it was 3θ then it means 180 degree, 4 means 270, 5 means 360, etc
