Blindness from computer screen?

I remember when I did my Graphics Course after one year of it I had a friend that went to get her eyes checked and she needed gles and was told to do eye exercises. She needed to try and focus on things far away to exercise her eyes, due to all the close up at the PC screen. Maybe he should get his eyes checked?
